Welcome back to the Independence Day Dash.
Things are heating up here in the gardens. The fans have arrived and everyone is briefed on the security protocol.
Now, before we start racing, we should check in on the fun. Here at the Independence Day Dash we love to celebrate traditions. You know how it is – events like this are always steeped in tradition.
The first bit of fun is the annual Red, White and Blue contest.
In the “Naturally Occurring Division,” this year we are proud to announce the winning team of Bee Balm (red), Floppy Grass (white – with a bit of green) and Spiderwort (blue).
Let’s hear it for the winners.
And in the “Bouquet Division,” the winners are the team of Zinnia (red), Yarrow (white) and Forget-me-not (blue).
Well Done team!
Speaking of bouquets, the We-Love-Racing Auxiliary Guild continues its age-old tradition and has yet again created some lovely bouquets.
Check out this one which includes most every flower blooming in the garden today.
The Guild really outdid itself this year!
And Oooooooh, Check out this pretty little patriotic bouquet.
Hey Look!
“Find a penny, pick it up – all the day you’ll have good luck!”
Luck is a great thing on a day like today.
Now, if everyone would please remove their hats and remain silent while Mary gives the invocation.
Thank you Mary.
Let’s go racing!
