Gloriosa Daisy speaks out, loudly and clearly, in his best stage voice.
“This, my friends. This is what we were talking about.”“Great Performances.” Gloriosa continues, “Require an investment by the performer at every moment of the show.”
“We must pay attention to details….”
“While we expose the emotion which is in our soul.”
“We must soar with a lilt…..”
“like we are gliding towards heaven.”
“There are moments in the performance when we must dig in and express our most complex emotions.”
“Yet we must balances those moments. A well timed wink is remarkably effective.”
“A little twist.”
“With a blush.”
“Yes, my friends.” Continues Gloriosa. “Great Performances must be complex as well as beautiful. When we exit the stage, do we want the audience to clap politely while they roll their eyes towards their date? NO! We want them to leap to their feet, hands stinging with the ferocity of their applause! Do we want them to suppress a yawn while they think about dinner? NO! We want them to wipe away tears. Joyous yet troubled by the sublime beauty of what we have expressed through our glorious performance.”
“Believe me, my friends. We must work the audience. We must pull the emotion from them.”
“Build tension.”“And keep building it.”
“Then release.”
“Allow them a little room to breathe.”
“Lean into your performance one moment.”
“Open it up the next.”
“Show them something they don’t expect.”
“And keep them guessing who you really are.”
“Oh, my friends. This is for what we live. All those months waiting through the winter. All those weeks striving towards this moment in the Spring. NOW we must seize the moment, invest ourselves completely and expose ourselves to the world. This is performance. This is life.”
Lovely Jim! Lovely
Thank you most sincerely. That Gloriosa – he’s some character. Thanks for reading. Best wishes on your blog about castles – I’m looking forward to reading it. 🙂
Alas, some pedestals are simply too sublime to nay-say. Well done, Gloriosa. You awaken my better spirits.
Indeed. Isn’t that the power of the sublime performance? Yeah, I think it’s the purpose of such a performance. Perhaps the very excuse for engaging in fine performance – or awesome flower gardening, as the case may be. It cheers my heart to hear that your better spirits are awake, though I proceed with slight trepidation about the prospect of your powerful and energetic spirits running amok amongst the good energy of this wide world. 🙂 Thank you Nate, my friend.
J’adore vos commentaires. 🙂
Bravo, Gloriosa Daisy!
