Winter rages on:

???????????????????????????????

The birds go WILD!  On an average winter day, there are four pairs of cardinals hanging around the feeders.  With the winter storm beginning, the joint became busy.  It appears there are 12 male and 7 female cardinals, numerous juncos and sparrows, with one gnarly grackle on top of the post, in this picture from Tuesday evening:

Five males and four females wait while the grackle dominates the green feeder:

Tough times call for drastic action.  One brave male abandons the normal distance kept  from the grackle and digs right in:

Another follows suit, taking the grackle head-on:

A junco joins and the feast continues:

Eventually, the grackle leaves and a respectable lady may dine:

Dine she must, for she can’t stay this healthy without some nourishment:

All the while, this little bird wonders “What’s a titmouse to do in such weather?”
