The Prettiest Day of the Year

This is the story of a perfectly beautiful day.

Tuesday morning, May 6, 2014, to be precise.  In west central Indiana, USA.  Near the 40th parallel of latitude.???????????????????????????????It was nice here Tuesday morning.  Really nice.  Gorgeous!  Oh, its been beautiful all week.   But Tuesday morning…..   mmmmmm.  Warm and sunny with a slight cool breeze.

The trees coming into leaf before our very eyes.DSC02696 No finer weather can be found on Earth!  ???????????????????????????????Great weather happens everywhere, I hope.

Some places have this weather like this much of the time – places like San Diego, California.  Here in Indiana we are much more selective about the days which are absolutely pristine.  We reserve Spring, Fall and a few days in Summer for this kind of perfection.  And boy do we appreciate it when we experience it. ???????????????????????????????

The bone chilling days of Winter are behind us.  The Dog Days of Summer await.  But today, the weather is PERFECT!  Breathe deep, inhale the fresh Spring air and enjoy the moment.???????????????????????????????And while you bask in this atmospheric excellence, check out the woodland flowers.DSC02847Woodland phlox and hyacinth.???????????????????????????????Trillium.???????????????????????????????DSC02976Bluebells and Poppies.  Fading yet vibrant.???????????????????????????????Mayapples.???????????????????????????????Wild Ginger, looking particularly voluptuous today, adorned with a single blue bell.???????????????????????????????Along with the coolest flower in the woods, the Jack-In-The-Pulpit.???????????????????????????????And given that you, like me, just can’t get enough of this weather, we might as well stroll over to the apple tree where the blossoms of a single tree present themselves in a variety of poses.??????????????????????????????? DSC02712 ??????????????????????????????? ??????????????????????????????? ??????????????????????????????? Over by the apple tree, amongst some recent wood cutting work, a lone catbird checks in.??????????????????????????????? I don’t know where this bird lives the rest of the year, but I compliment it on its good sense to be here today!???????????????????????????????Out front the Dame’s Rocket, having endured the harsh winter above ground, receives its due and approaches bloom in celebration of the finest time of the year.??????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????Let’s breathe in the fresh Spring air one more time and say good-bye to Bluebell Valley, fading into summer as the dense, shady canopy of the Maple forest takes over.  Farewell Bluebells.  See you next Spring.DSC02852Thanks for stopping by.  I hope you enjoyed the flowers.  I’m sure you enjoyed the weather!

    1. “Ahhhh.” Now take a deep breathe of the fresh Spring air, relax your shoulders and say it again… “Ahhh.” :). Thanks Tom.

  1. These are such beautiful images. I particularly loved the red chairs in the garden. It just looks like the sort of place where you would find relaxation and happiness. Surely nothing could trouble a person in these surrounds

    1. Thank you! Alas, there is ALWAYS something to trouble us, but a nice place to sit doesn’t hurt. 🙂
